Episode 12 - Major Crossover Events

Sean L's Pick:
Wolverine #75 Dark Reign
Although most of us had written the new Dark Wolverine (Daken - Wolverine's son) off as a retarded Insane Clown Posse ringleader. Sean accidentally forgot to drop it from his hold and he shocked us all by choosing this as his pick of the week. Sean feels Daken may actually prove to be a character to watch, even though it's under protest by the rest of us, He still stands by his pick and has challenged you and each of the warriors to check it out.

Creators: Writer: Daniel Way, Marjorie Liu / Art by: Giuseppe Camuncoli

.
For his second pick of the week:
Northlanders #18.
Brian Wood's version of vikings is really relatable and completely entertaining. While it talks about viking life its not necessarily the focus of the series and has been an ultimately a really entertaining read. With a constantly changing artist on the series we like the feel it lends to the series. The warriors try to determine whether Northlanders or Viking is the poor man's viking novel.

Creators: Writer: Brian Wood / Art by: Vasilis Lolos

Jonas' Pick:
Destroyer #4
Another Kirkman BLOODBATH for your dollars to be thrown at! Cory Walker and Kirkman reunite to make this awesome title on the MAX marvel label and feature as much blood and guts as possible! Destroyer is a hero who's about to die and has decided to tie up all the loose ends left over and by tying up loose ends we mean he rips arms off his old enemies and beats them to death with their own limbs!

Creators: Writer: Rober Kirkman / Art by: Cory Walker

John's Pick:
100 Bullets
100 issues, 1 briefcase, 1 gun and 100 untraceable rounds of ammo and the proof that your husband, wife, brother, sister, friend, family member was murdered by the hands of a bad guy make for one of the best crime saga's the comic industry has ever seen. I love me a good revenge story and this one is jam packed with tons of them small story arcs beautifully combine into the overall story that leaves you stunned at how well this whole thing was tied together.

Creators: Writer: Brian Azzarello / Art by: Eduardo Risso - awesome graphic covers by Dave Johnson

Henny's Pick:
Creepy
A horror anthology of 48 pages of awesome art and stories that make the Crypt-keeper shiver. The awesome Eric Powell of The Goon fame did an awesome cover that made Henny pick up this title and review for your readin' pleasures! With interior art by Jason Shawn Alexander of Dead Irons, Angelo Torres of Mad magazine and tons more make this book well worth the cost of the cover impulse buy

Creators: Writer: Neil Kleid, Joe Harris, Dan Braun, Mike Woods, Shawna Gore / Art by: Alex Toth, Angelo Torres, Bernie Wrightson, Jason Shawn Alexander, Saskia Gutenkunst, Hilary Barta

Hey Quesada! Bring back the editor's notes! Let them have their voice! We demand them back. Please.

Sean L's Pick:
Runaways #11
Although the creative team has been jumping around a bit on this title Sean is really liking the new author Kathryn Immonen in the series and thinks this book has found a new stride. A lot of people may have dropped the series over the years and it may just be time to revisit or pick it up for the first time.

Creators: Writer: Kathryn Immonen / Art by: Sara Pichelli

He also recommends the Boom comic IRREDEEMABLE #4 I would too but I can't find a shop thats carrying the damn thing. Sheesh.

Jonas' Pick:
Fell
Templesmith can just do no wrong. It also helps that this dark and gritty crime story is flipping awesome. Can you guys finish the series? Look were not alone here lots of us wanna see the thing. Seriously would love it so much. Follow Detective Richard Fell, who been reassigned to the small creepy town of Snowfall.

Creators: Writer: Warren Ellis / Art by: Ben Templesmith

John's SHIT Pick:
Deadpool #1
I felt it was written by retarded chimps, but I'm a Deadpool Noob so what do I know but I'm still pissed I paid for this with my hard earned ever more devalued american dollars. Apparently Im not alone and the people at CBR said it better than me.

"Because no one demanded it, another Deadpool ongoing title featuring an artist known primarily for his work on “Star Wars” comics and a novelist who’s never written comics before that will almost certainly be cancelled within a year! "

While I'm still reading VIKING I can't help but feel its moving a little slow for my tastes but the cool magazine size and amazing artwork and gorgeous colors will ensure I repeatedly throw money at this title until the peso is finally more valuable.

Episode 10 - Invincible

We apologize for missing a week Sean L. was in Scotland so we make it up and review the amazing superhero series INVINCIBLE! along with each of our pick of the week. The Henny is out in london for this episode and we stick it to him by reviewing his favorite ongoing series.

Sean L's Pick:
Power Up
If you’ve never read a graphic novel by Doug Tennapel, then you’ve been missing out. This one centers on a video-game console that gives “power ups” that can be used in life. Power Up! features Hugh Randolph, who's kind of stuck in a humdrum existence until a magic item seems to b begin granting him all of his heart's desires, but every wish seems to come at a cost.

Creator: Doug Tennapel

John's Pick:
Impaler
Vampires are overwhelming America, state by state, and the only chance of survival lies at the hands of an ancient hero!

Lt. George Wagner arrives in Washington, D.C., hoping to find reinforcements. Instead, he discovers the nation’s capital has been abandoned, its citizens headed west, away from the approaching vampires. In New Jersey, Victor and Vlad are attacked by the unlikeliest of enemies – Vlad’s brother, Mircea, who was long thought dead but is out for revenge!

Creators: Matt Timson - artist, cover / William Harms - writer

Jonas' Pick:
Invincible #63
Believe it or not this is the cover here is the whole reason Jonas read the entire 10 back trade paper backs just so he could read this book. Good for him too cause we take the episode to review the whole series and what a whammy it is!

Creators: Story by Robert Kirkman / Art by Ryan Ottley, Cliff Rathburn, FCO Plascencia

Have fun in London Sean! Hope your happy we reviewed your favorite comic when you were gone sucker!

Episode 9 - Animated Comic Book Series

The Goon will be coming to the big screen soon and we wanted to celebrate by talking of some of our more favorite comic book inspired series.

We also discuss the rising price of comics and how they are affecting everyone already tight budgets. A New York Times article linked here talks about the rising cost of comics throughout the industry. It wouldn't be so bad if they were to cover it up with maybe some hullabaloo about the rising cost of paper in china or something but they just come right out and say "were jacking you for everything! Its getting tougher and tougher to be a geek these days.

We discuss the newest reincarnation of Batman Cartoon Network's Batman Brave & the Bold a fun new campy series that Henny wouldn't stop jabbering about.

We also go over the Hellboy animated series of Sword of Storms and the perfectionist that is Mike Mignola.

We also talk about the Comic book wizard and weirdo that is Alan Moore. Genius or Visionary... Your wrong if you answer either because the answer is both.

Watch this mindblowing video where the "comic book messiah for the 1990's" interviews ... none other than ... himself?

We also humbly beg that you follow the genius that is Rob Liefeld on Twitter!

I mean look at gems like the following - "Got my new Wizard mag, 3 months straight that New Mutants #98 written and illustrated by yours truly is #1 hottest comic. Sweet."
